About this Income Percentile tool
Absolute numbers alone say little about where your income stands — a 10k/month salary means very different things in a tier-1 city versus a small town. Using a log-normal distribution model combined with regional and age income patterns, this tool estimates what percentage of people your monthly salary beats nationwide, within your city tier, and among people your age.
Besides percentiles, it also gives your annual salary, equivalent hourly rate (21.75 days × 8 hours a month), how long to save 1 million CNY, "how many out of 100 people earn more/less than you", plus a share-ready blurb for your social feed.
How to use

FAQ
Where does the data come from?
The model's medians and distribution parameters are estimated from National Bureau of Statistics data on urban employment wages by region and age (2024–2025 basis). It's a statistical approximation for intuitive positioning, not an exact ranking.
Pre-tax or after-tax?
Use your pre-tax (gross) monthly salary, including wages, bonuses and allowances, to match the statistical basis. If you only know take-home pay, estimate pre-tax by adding roughly 15%–25%.
Why does my percentile among peers differ from the national one?
Income among same-age groups is more concentrated (lower dispersion), and medians differ by age band (26–30 vs 46–55), so the same salary usually ranks lower among people your age than nationwide.
